Nothing in this world is more beautiful

J.R. Millerby J.R. Miller

A ship is made to go in the water, and no matter how deep the sea nor how wild the tempest–all goes well as long as the water does not get into the ship. The problem of managing a ship, is not to keep the ship out of the water–but to keep the water out of the ship!

In this sinful world, we cannot avoid all cares and trials and temptations. The goal of of true Christian living is to keep these cares and trials and temptations from getting into our souls. Some people let all their frets and worries at once into their hearts–and they soon live out their lives in sourness, irritability, and discontent. They become thus miserable themselves–and they make all around them miserable. They cast, not cooling, healthful, refreshing shade on others–but melancholy, darksome, chilling shadows.

Learn to keep your cares in your hands–and out of your hearts. Nothing in this world is more beautiful than a Christian life with many trials and cares–yet remaining ever peaceful and joyous amid them all. This is the real goal of noble Christian living.

Your Real Goal

Jonathan Cahnby Jonathan Cahn

Let’s say you come home from a hard day at work and all you want is peace and quiet, but your loved ones need something of you and you become irritated, upset. You end up causing conflict. They’re miserable and you’re miserable. The problem is that you had the wrong goal. The real goal should have been to be more like Messiah- to love, to become more beautiful as a person, to become a more holy person. Your goal isn’t to have a peaceful night, it’s to have a peaceful spirit, a heart of peace. You can apply this to any part of your life, any goal. Don’t let any goal cause you to lose sight of your true goal to become more like Him- to love God and others and glorify Him with your life on earth. When you do that, you will get the blessing on top of it. Not that your life will always be filled with beautiful circumstances, but that your life will be filled with a beautiful Messiah-like person, who happens to be you.

Today’s Mission – Make it your one goal today, above and beyond all goals, to be more godly, righteous, and beautiful in the Lord.
