Trust Him for the goodness

A.B. Simpsonby A.B. Simpson

The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him —Psalm 25:14

There are secrets of providence which God’s dear children may learn. His dealing with them often seems, to the outward eye, dark and terrible. Faith looks deeper and says, “This is God’s secret. You look only on the outside; I can look deeper and see the hidden meaning.” Sometimes diamonds are hidden in rough packages so their value cannot be seen.

When the tabernacle was built in the wilderness there was nothing rich in its outside appearance. The costly things were all within, and its outward covering of rough badger skin gave no hint of the valuable things which it contained. God may send you some costly packages. Do not worry if they are concealed in rough wrappings. You may be sure there are treasures of love and kindness and wisdom hidden within.

Do not be so foolish as to throw away a silver spoon because it is tarnished. If we take what He sends, and trust Him for the goodness in it, even in the dark, we shall learn the meaning of the secrets of His providence.

Fruit Of Wax

Jonathan Cahn 90x115by Jonathan Cahn

Have you ever seen a bowl of fruit that looks delicious only to find out that it’s wax? Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

The problem is many believers choose to have wax fruit instead of real fruit. They act loving, good, kind, and joyful instead of actually being these things. So, too, we often try to manufacture love instead of letting love grow. We try to fashion a life of goodness from the outside in by doing good things, instead of the inside-out of the Spirit. We end up with a life of wax fruits of the Spirit. But the fruits of the Spirit are real fruit, not wax. Don’t act fruitful; instead, learn to become fruitful. Don’t act beautiful – become beautiful. Live your life for Him from the inside out. Learn the secrets of growing the fruit of His Spirit from the inside of your heart out and life will become sweet. Everything else is just wax fruit.

Today’s Mission – Today, seek not to do good, but to be good; not to act loving, but to be loving; not to look beautiful, but to become beautiful.
