“And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.” Genesis 6:7.
In the days leading up to the flood of Noah wickedness not only prevailed but was so pervasive it had fully tainted mankind. This wickedness put God in a very precarious position. God was actually sorry He had created man and He had no choice but to wipe out the huge majority of His creation and begin again. Let’s take just a moment to contemplate the severity of that wicked world and how God’s only recourse was a worldwide flood to purge wickedness from earth.
